Web3 Hackathons to Join in April 2026: Open Applications & Key Details

April is one of the busiest months on the Web3 builder calendar. A dozen hackathons are either open for registration or still accepting submissions — spanning Ethereum, Solana, Algorand, XRP, Farcaster, and more, across online and in-person formats.

If you’re looking to jump in, our full guide to participating in Web3 hackathons covers everything from picking the right event to packaging your submission. The list below is sorted by submission deadline — the ones closing first are at the top.

1. NottsHack 2026

When: April 6–12, 2026

Format: Mixed (Online + Malaysia)

Ecosystem: Dash, DCAI

Hosted by the Computer Science Society at the University of Nottingham Malaysia, NottsHack 2026 runs in two phases. The online phase covers April 6–11, with an opening ceremony, workshops, and five days of remote development. Teams then continue on campus April 11–12 for mentorship, presentations, and the awards ceremony.

Three sponsor tracks are on offer: the Blockchain for Good Alliance track focuses on financial inclusion, digital identity, and public infrastructure; the DCAI track covers web apps, AI tools, and developer tooling on its L3 infrastructure; and the Dash track is for payment systems and dApps using the Dash network. Each track carries its own prize pool.

2. GenLayer Testnet Bradbury Hackathon

When: April 3-10, 2026, submissions due April 4

Format: Online

Ecosystem: GenLayer

GenLayer Testnet Bradbury focuses on building Intelligent Contracts in a testnet where AI systems participate directly in blockchain consensus. Validators select and optimize language models, and contracts execute using Optimistic Democracy consensus. The judging phase runs April 3–10, with a virtual demo day on April 10.

Top projects are in line for priority mainnet deployment and early access to GenLayer’s developer fee model.

3. Hack the Block

When: April 11–12, 2026

Where: Paris, France

Ecosystem: XRP

The flagship hackathon of Paris Blockchain Week, Hack the Block brings together developers, engineers, researchers, and founders for a two-day in-person sprint in Paris. Projects are evaluated by industry participants, with the XRP Ledger ecosystem providing the technical backbone. One of the few in-person options on this list and a strong entry point if you’re already heading to PBW.

4. HashKey Chain Horizon Hackathon

When: Registration closes April 15, 2026

Where: Online

Ecosystem: HashKey Chain

HashKey Chain Horizon centers on building financial infrastructure at the intersection of AI and DeFi. Four tracks are available: DeFi, PayFi, AI, and ZKID, with a focus on AI-driven trading strategies, onchain financial systems, and automated DeFi operations. Selected projects may receive follow-on support from exchanges, security firms, and venture capital participants within the HashKey Group ecosystem.

5. AlgoBharat Hack Series 3.0

When: Submissions due April 15, 2026

Format: Online

Ecosystem: Algorand

AlgoBharat Hack Series 3.0 is a multi-stage program for developers building open-source enterprise blockchain modules on Algorand. The three focus areas are future of finance, agentic commerce, and regulatory technology — covering payments, real-world assets, AI-driven commerce, and digital identity. Teams progressing to the final stage are invited to an in-person developer retreat in Goa, with a focus on mainnet deployment and startup readiness.

6. INITIATE: The Initia Hackathon

When: Submissions due April 16, 2026

Where: Online

Ecosystem: Initia

INITIATE is Initia’s first hackathon season, built around launching applications on the Initia stack without managing underlying blockchain infrastructure. The stack includes fast block times, integrated bridging, and user onboarding tools, allowing developers to focus on product design, user experience, and distribution. Projects are expected to generate onchain revenue, with teams having control over their fee models and application-level economics.

7. FarHack Online

When: April 6–19, 2026

Where: Online

Ecosystem: Ethereum

FarHack Online is a two-week hackathon centered on building agent-native systems on Farcaster — where autonomous agents operate alongside human users through identity, wallets, and an open social graph. Three tracks are available: Agents (autonomous agents within the Farcaster feed), Agentic Miniapps (applications for both agents and humans), and Clients & Interfaces (new Farcaster client experiences for agent-human environments). Selected projects will be showcased at Builders’ Day during FarCon in Rome. Hosted by urbe.eth and Builders Garden.

8. World Build 3

When: Online hackathon April 23–26, 2026, Build Week in Seoul May 10–18

Format: Mixed

Ecosystem: Worldchain

World Build is a five-month builder program for founders developing on World. It starts with an online hackathon April 23–26, where participants build or submit early-stage applications. Selected teams continue to an in-person Build Week in Seoul from May 10–18, followed by a virtual program running through August — with weekly sessions, office hours with the World team, and workshops from founders, builders, and investors.

9. Open Agents by ETHGlobal

When: April 24 – May 6, 2026

Format: Online (Async)

Ecosystem: Ethereum

ETHGlobal’s April async hackathon focuses on building AI agent applications within the Ethereum ecosystem. The async format means teams build and submit on their own schedule within the event window, with judging happening asynchronously for partner prizes and live presentation sessions for finalist consideration. ETHGlobal async hackathons have historically drawn large, global participant fields.

10. 0G APAC Hackathon

When: Submissions due May 9, 2026

Format: Online

Ecosystem: 0G

0G APAC is a builder program for developers working on AI and Web3 applications within the 0G ecosystem. Five tracks cover autonomous agents, verifiable finance, AI-native applications, privacy infrastructure, and consumer products. A mini demo day takes place April 22 during Hong Kong Web3 Festival, with final submissions due May 9 and a final demo and award ceremony to follow.

11. Frontier Online Hackathon

When: April 6 – May 11, 2026

Format: Online

Ecosystem: Solana

Colosseum’s Frontier Online Hackathon is a five-week competition open to builders and founders creating products on Solana. The hackathon serves as the first stage in Colosseum’s pipeline, which combines hackathons, an accelerator, and a venture fund. Top performing teams have the opportunity to advance into the accelerator and receive investment from Colosseum’s venture fund — making it one of the more structured pathways from hackathon to funding on this list.
