BasePaint Hackathon is a one-week internet-native build challenge from August 1–8, 2026, centered on BasePaint’s daily collaborative canvas. The hackathon is open to software, tools, art projects, games, remixes, and other work that improves or builds around the BasePaint ecosystem.
Participants make something new, share it publicly, and submit by August 8 at 23:59 UTC. Entries must be open source and include a public repo. Art projects should include enough source material to make the work reproducible.
The hackathon includes three main categories: tools for artists, ways for collectors to find and curate BasePaint work, and broader art projects made with BasePaint. Projects are judged on usefulness, craft, originality, and staying power.
Prizes include 2 ETH worth of BasePaint daily editions, with the grand prize covering every day of BasePaint Year 4. Category winners receive six months of BasePaint, and honorable mentions receive one month of BasePaint. No coding skills are required, and participants can use AI tools, work solo, or build with a team.
